Two upcoming events (one featuring Steven Pinker!)
I’m excited to announce not one but TWO upcoming live events that will be of interest to readers of Building the Builders:
1) Next Wednesday, April 27th, at 5:30pm CDT, I’ll be giving a talk titled “Building the Psychology of Entrepreneurship” at UT Austin. The talk is free to attend either live or on Zoom (see event page for details).
2) And now for the ultimate proof that dreams really do come true: on Tuesday, May 10th, from 2-4pm EDT, I’ll be sitting down for a virtual InterIntellect SuperSalon conversation with one of my living heroes, psychologist Steven Pinker—a passionate defender of reason, science, humanism, and progress—about what motivates (or demotivates) reason, science, humanism, and progress. In other words: what motivates builders to build?
For instance: what motivates the deep, honest thinking on which a builder’s work depends? What has become of these motivations today? To what extent are these motivations coachable, and to what extent must they “come from within”? What would it take to ignite (or reignite) them, in ourselves or others, on an individual or societal level?
Come join me in peppering one of the world’s great Humanist thinkers and friends of progress with all these questions and more! :D
